Managing transactions
Transactions are the basis of your portfolio and trading journal. Once you add buys and sells, Moula computes holdings, cost, profit, and ROI, and shows daily performance by holding and for the whole portfolio.
Transactions can be added for assets that are in your favorites.
Adding transactions
You can add transactions in multiple ways:
- from any page, using the search bar to search for an asset that is in your favorites
- in the favorites list page, by clicking on the three dots to the left of any favorite to access its action menu
- in the details page of any favorite by clicking on the add transaction button
- from the transactions page by clicking on the add transaction button
- from the transactions page by using the CSV bulk import
Importing from CSV
The best way to import multiple transactions at once is through the CSV import. Make sure you download the CSV template and fill your transactions history by following its guidance. Upload the file, fix any validation errors, then confirm to import.
Quick setup
For a non-time-consuming setup, instead of adding all your historical transactions, you could start off by adding your current average cost basis and selecting today's date as a transaction date.
Editing a transaction
You can edit any transaction from the transactions page by clicking on it.
Portfolio performance
Your portfolio overview and history (by holding and aggregate) update automatically after any change to your transactions. It also updates daily as end-of-day quotes data is available.
Privacy and security
Moula is designed to keep your investment data private and secure. Your portfolio data belongs to you and is never sold or shared with advertisers. The app does not require broker credentials and cannot execute trades on your behalf, it simply acts as a reporting tool based on transactions you manually log, just as if you were using a spreadsheet without its limitations. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on secure infrastructure with restricted access.
